Board of Directors
The Board comprises four directors, and consists of one executive Director and three non-executive Directors, two of whom the Board considers to be independent.
Mr. Khaled Al Muhairy, aged 34, Non-executive Director
Khaled Al Muhairy is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Evolvence Capital, a leading alternative assets manager in the Middle East and South Asia, focusing on private equity, real estate and alternative funds management, with more than US$ one billion under management. He has overall management responsibility for all Evolvence Capital activities with a primary focus on strategic direction, business development, and investor and regulatory relations.
He has extensive capital raising and investment experience and holds operational management and board mandates of various Evolvence Capital initiatives. He is the chairman of the Evolvence India Fund; Evolvence India Holdings Plc, the first publicly quoted fund of funds for the Indian private equity market; Chairman of the Board of Governors of Repton Dubai, the first overseas partner school of the prestigious UK public school; Evolvence India Life Sciences Fund, a private equity fund focusing on pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in India; Evolvence Mena Hedge Fund, the region’s first home grown hedge fund; Gulf Steel Strands; and Evolvence Education Holding, formed to promote educational institutions in the GCC.
Mr. Al-Muhairy also currently serves on the board of Ithmar Capital, Al Qudra Holdings, Rayan Investment Company, Arady Real Estate Company and Amzaan Investments.
Prior to founding Evolvence Capital in 2000, Mr. Al-Muhairy headed the North America department of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he specialised in technology and telecommunication equity investments.
Mr. Al-Muhairy holds a B.Sc in Finance from Saint Louis University, Missouri, USA.
Mr. Mehdi Dazi, aged 41, Non-executive Director
Mr. Dazi is currently serving as the Member of the Supervisory Board of Vivendi, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates International Investment Company and Chairman of Paris International Investment (2005 – to date). He is also a Director of Global Alumina (Canada) and has worked for the United Nations Development Program, in New York, as a consultant (1992); as a Research Analyst and a Portfolio Manager in Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (1992 – 1995); and as a Senior Manager at Scudder Kemper Investments (1995 – 2001). He also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Founoon Holdings, in Egypt (2001 – 02) and as a Director of Estithmaar Ventures (2002 – 04). He also currently holds directorships and partnerships in Emerging Capital Partners, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Dounya Park, Holland Park Capital, Holland Park Capital International Limited, Holland Park Emerging Markets Fund, Babtain Leblanc and Paradigm Investment Banking Company.
Mr. Dazi is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, and of Columbia University in New York.
Mr Mohamed Abdel-Hadi, aged 33, Non-executive Director
Mr Abdel-Hadi is an emerging markets equity strategist with over eleven years of investment banking experience. Mr Abdel-Hadi has been a director of emerging markets equity strategies at Merrill Lynch (London) since 2001 and prior to that he was a director in equity research for Merrill Lynch, covering the Middle East and North Africa. Mr Abdel-Hadi has held positions with Robert Fleming Securities (London), where he was a research analyst covering the Middle East and North Africa, and HSBC James Capel (London). Mr Abdel-Hadi also founded an asset management company in Egypt in 1995, holds a degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo, Egypt and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
